By looking at the movie poster, I had no idea what Fallen Angels would be like or what it would be about. And now, having finished the movie, the poster makes total sense. While some movies take decades to write, direct, edit, and put together, others feel very different. Like no one really wrote them,…
The Match tells the real story of a Go master and his protégé who continue to play the game together today. Great actors and interesting effects help turn this intellectual game into something visually interesting. Go is a game that I have heard about and seen images of, but have never played or watched a…
I would have thought that a movie starring Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen would have been really interesting and engaging. Unfortunately, with Closer, I was wrong. There are some films that seem promising, have a great cast, and an intriguing premise that just end up to be duds. This is a…
A chosen family can be a real family, but it’s important to know what you are getting into. In American Honey, a slice-of-life film about a girl and the group of travelers that she joins, figuring out where you fit in is a fascinating journey in and of itself. There are some movies that are…
If you think you have a good sense of smell, you have never met Jean-Baptiste Grenouille – a man on a mission to create the perfect scent in Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer. I have always had a fascination with true crime, and more specifically, serial killers. I am taken with the psychology behind…
When I saw the trailer for Fight Or Flight, I had very little interest in seeing it. I am so glad that I did, though – it is definitely worth the watch. There are so many revenge films and spy films that they sometimes start to run together. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them…
A sweet movie about a woman with a passion for cooking who learns to be a sushi chef, East Side Sushi is a super enjoyable time. Specific passions can be very unique. You may love singing while no one else in your family can carry a tune or become an avid camper when all you’ve…
A solid film that gives you three different perspectives of the real-life rape charges of Marguerite towards Jacques in 1386 France, The Last Duel takes you on a contemplative ride. There are times that I give myself a snicker over the movies that I choose to watch. This time had nothing to do with the…
A stylish and funny sequel to A Simple Favor, Another Simple Favor is full of vivid colors, beautiful locales, and some extremely funny moments. When A Simple Favor came out in 2018, I heard a few rumblings about it. It took me a few years to watch, but it is a clever mystery starring Anna…
There aren’t a lot of films that are so triggering and unnerving that I don’t know how to recommend them, but Compliance is definitely among the few. It’s distressing and does its job well. This is one of those reviews that I can’t write the way I normally do. I would usually give you a…
If you’re looking to go back to shoulder pads, big hair, and huge cordless phones, Miracle Mile is the 80s movie for you! There are some movies that you hear about because people love them. Usually you can find the seeds of what people connect with and you either relate or appreciate their perspective, but…
A hilarious and heartfelt comedy about an unlikely friendship between two men, The Intouchables is a movie that you have to see. For many people, being seen for exactly who you are is vitally important. More important than gifts, more important than quality time, more important that almost anything else – particularly when you are…
