A tough film about addicts in New York, The Panic In Needle Park follows a young couple as they spend time together, develop codependency, try to make a name for themselves, and look for their next fix. Some movies are incredibly important, but unbelievably difficult to watch. The Panic In Needle Park is one of…
A lovely small film about a man with Alzheimer’s who chooses to end his life on his own terms, Moon Manor hits all of the right humorous and emotional notes. Death is an experience that every one of us is going to have one day. It is part of the cycle of life, so we…
A fascinating slow-burn of a movie, Mountainhead is essentially a 4-man play about what could happen if the wealthiest people in control of AI decide whether to let the world burn and become the vision they have instead. As most of us live our daily lives, we are concerned with the smaller things. You pick…
A gorgeous black-and-white film that follows a small town guy who looks up to his legendary brother, Rumble Fish has an incredible cast and a captivating filming style. Definitely worth a watch. Sometimes I’ll watch a movie and I will have no idea where it’s going or if what I’m watching is going to sink…
An elegant movie about the creator of the Wonder Woman comic, his wife, and their lover, Professor Marston & The Wonder Women is a fascinating look into a polyamorist relationship that existed far before its time. Comic book characters have long been part of society. They typically stand for power and take action for the…
Sometimes you get a movie that stars people you like and looks like something entertaining, but it never quite clicks. It’s fair to say that The Greatest Hits never quite lived up to its name. Every once in a while, there’s a movie that looks like it’s going to be fun. I don’t read much…
An outlandish and entertaining documentary about a 4.5 billion dollar theft, Biggest Heist Ever is a good show, but maintains credibility. It’s fun to find a documentary that plays out like a high-budget film. The visuals are grainer and the story is usually less flashy, but because it is a real story, it doesn’t really…
A brilliantly hilarious film about the impending blotting of existence, Dogma is a classic that never gets old. With the 13th apostle, two unlikely prophets, a small role by Alanis Morissette, and two angels just trying to escape their banishment in Wisconsin, this has always been a favorite. Dogma is one of those films that…
A historical drama full of mystery and a touch of thriller, Julia is the story of two friends who would do anything for each other, and during WWII, one of them does. There are some actors that you associate with specific roles. Whether you grew up with a particular movie or something left an indelible…
Based on a video game, A Minecraft Movie works hard to create an adventure for adults and kids alike, but it lacks consistent humor and charm. Not a movie that you need to see. I want to be completely candid here – I am not super familiar with Minecraft. My kids played, but they were…
With creative ideas and a unique take on a dinner party, The Perfect Host is a little uneven, but also very entertaining. Worth a watch! Dinner parties are usually static occasions. You show up at someone’s house, maybe bring a gift, wine, or food, eat, socialize, and go home. You know what to expect when…
A hysterical cringefest, Friendship is a buddy comedy that you will be glad that you are watching and not actually living. Very funny stuff. As people age, men seemingly stay home more. They get comfortable with their lives, their work, their partners, and their children, and going out with buddies can get a little lost…
