Some Other Woman Movie Review and Poster 2023

Some Other Woman Movie Review (2023)

A thriller with potential that devolves into confusion, Some Other Woman, about a woman, her husband, and her stalker, starts pretty well, but loses its way.

Some Other Woman Movie Review and Poster 2023I love a good thriller. It is so much fun when a movie can pull the wool over your eyes and only reveal bits of information until they are ready for the big reveal. You naturally try to guess what is happening, and it’s extra entertainment to find out whether you were right or wrong. But with this one, I still don’t know.

Some Other Woman is about Eve, a woman who is married to Peter, and desperately wants to have a baby. When she notices a woman appear in the water on the beach outside her house and later in the greenery, she realizes that she is being stalked, but Peter never sees the woman. He begins to get concerned about her mental health and she can’t figure out what is going on.

I really liked the vibe of this movie. It is tense and you get to know the characters a bit, but the sense of mystery is the constant.

About 10 minutes into the movie, there is a shot of a woman in the water. It is odd and I had a terrible sense that this was going to be bad. Luckily, it didn’t go off heavily into the B-movie land that I was worried about, but it did go off somewhere.

Some Other Woman is kind of a mixed bag. The primary actors (Amanda Crew, Tom Felton, and Ashley Greene) all do a nice job with their characters and keep you engaged. Visually, the film is nice to look at and doesn’t do anything special, but stays consistent. The score is also a highlight, keeping you on your toes.

The main problem with this movie is the story. There are so many twists and turns that I still can’t tell you what happened. And when I went to do a little research after it was over, the best comment I found was, “I don’t think the writers even know what happened.” And that is the truth.

I had about 4 theories throughout the movie, each of them proven wrong by something else that occurred. At the end, I was hoping that they would let us in on the secret, but I’ve still got nothing. Which has left me incredibly frustrated because I’d love to make sense of it. There are some good ideas floating around in this movie, but apparently they are red herrings… or the writers really didn’t know where they were going with this.

Some Other Woman is a short and interesting film that strings you along and keeps you curious, but leaves you with a payoff that makes no logical sense. If they omitted a single fight scene, I could tell you what happened, but it exists, so my theories are out the window. If you can figure it out, please let me know.
