When I saw the trailer for Fight Or Flight, I had very little interest in seeing it. I am so glad that I did, though – it is definitely worth the watch. There are so many revenge films and spy films that they sometimes start to run together. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them…
A stylish and funny sequel to A Simple Favor, Another Simple Favor is full of vivid colors, beautiful locales, and some extremely funny moments. When A Simple Favor came out in 2018, I heard a few rumblings about it. It took me a few years to watch, but it is a clever mystery starring Anna…
There aren’t a lot of films that are so triggering and unnerving that I don’t know how to recommend them, but Compliance is definitely among the few. It’s distressing and does its job well. This is one of those reviews that I can’t write the way I normally do. I would usually give you a…
How do you talk about a movie that leaves you speechless? Remember is one of those films that stands out from the crowd and I’m shocked that I’d never heard of it before. Some movies are just incredibly special. They seem small in the moment, but they carry the weight of history on their backs….
Some movie reveals can take a long time to happen. You get curious along the ride, but when everything suddenly comes together, like in Recalled, you can’t stop thinking about it afterwards. I love a good thriller. When the energy builds and you aren’t completely sure what is happening, you’re just along for the ride…
Working things out with your partner can be heavy business, but if we could all do it in the way they do in The One I Love, therapy would be a whole other ballgame. Romantic relationships are complicated. You are both human, you make mistakes, and if you’ve committed to spending a life together, it…
When I stumbled across Freeway, I read that it was an adult twist on the “Little Red Riding Hood” story. I wondered why I’d never heard of it before, but now I understand. I love when people take an old story and create something new out of it. I am not talking about the remakes…
If Ryan Gosling is driving something, you know you’re in for a good film. I’m convinced that this is one of the main barometers for testing and, with The Place Beyond The Pines, the record holds. I remember first hearing the rumors about Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes being in a relationship. They had met…
When The Manchurian Candidate takes to you the Pavlov Institute, it’s more than a dog drooling that you have to worry about. It’s a serious – and very sweaty – business. With all of the film options out there, I tend to watch those made in the last four or five decades. Nothing against older…
Do your best not to crash over Alaska when you’re flying or you may find yourself in the grey and dangerous territory. If only Belle’s Beast had shown up to help them fight off the wolves… I am a fan of survival films. I enjoy the intricate building of a life in ways that most…
When The Voices claims to be a black comedy, it’s telling the truth, but it’s leaving out the part where it dips its toes into actual horror. So that was unexpected. I have made no secret of the fact that I’m not into horror films. I love a good psychological thriller, but when the creepy…
Boy, do I wish I could say, “black bag” when I don’t want to answer questions or relay information. “Would you rather have cheese or cake?” “Black bag.” Films about undercover operations can be a lot of fun. Seeing (what we perceive to be) what happens behind closed doors in the inner-workings of secret spy…
