I have a rule for myself that I always finish movies, but if I didn’t, Napoleon never would have gotten finished. Or maybe it would have because of the laughs. This movie hurts me. We’ve all heard of Napoleon Bonaparte, the French warrior who fought in and won many battles, and was both general and,…
Everyone doesn’t have to be likeable for a movie to work. And in Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead, that’s proven true time and time and time again. Every family dynamic is sick in its own way, regardless of how much everyone may love each other. Whether it’s boundary issues, narcissism, or old hostilities, things…
When I stumbled across Freeway, I read that it was an adult twist on the “Little Red Riding Hood” story. I wondered why I’d never heard of it before, but now I understand. I love when people take an old story and create something new out of it. I am not talking about the remakes…
If Ryan Gosling is driving something, you know you’re in for a good film. I’m convinced that this is one of the main barometers for testing and, with The Place Beyond The Pines, the record holds. I remember first hearing the rumors about Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes being in a relationship. They had met…
When The Manchurian Candidate takes to you the Pavlov Institute, it’s more than a dog drooling that you have to worry about. It’s a serious – and very sweaty – business. With all of the film options out there, I tend to watch those made in the last four or five decades. Nothing against older…
Do your best not to crash over Alaska when you’re flying or you may find yourself in the grey and dangerous territory. If only Belle’s Beast had shown up to help them fight off the wolves… I am a fan of survival films. I enjoy the intricate building of a life in ways that most…
There aren’t enough mermaid movies out there, in my opinion, but when it comes to The Legend of Mermaid, there’s actually one too many. I have loved mermaids since I was little and if I come across a movie or book about them, I will watch or read it. I know I’m not alone in…
When you’re watching a movie about con men, you need to stay on your toes the entire time. Are the Brothers Bloom conning just their mark or are they conning you too? I love a movie that will leave me duped. There are so many films and television shows where, with a close eye, you…
A real-life shooter video game in a city with real people full with viewers, effects, and scoring? Yeah, this was a fun one. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be in a video game, you’re not alone. This is one of those films where it feels like a few friends got…
While Multiples may be illegal in the world of Mickey 17, I would have appreciated a multiple of myself to watch the second half of this movie for me. This is one of those movies that I’ve been waiting to see. It’s been on my watchlist since I first heard that it was in the…
They say that there are no original ideas, but when it comes to film, that’s not entirely true. The Double is a little film that makes you think, and in its own way, it stands out in the crowd. Many feel like they don’t exist in this world. They walk through a crowd or visit…
This movie got a lot of love around town, but I’m just not feeling it. That said, Benicio del Toro is a genius. I try not to read too much about a movie before watching it, but sometimes it’s hard to filter everything out. Sicario is directed by Denis Villeneuve, so going in, I’ll admit…
